Things You Need to Know About the 2014 Kia Rio

September 11, 2014

The 2014 Kia Rio might be another face in a sea of small affordable cars, but it has a few qualities that make it stand out from the rest of the competitors. With its combination of European finesse and Korean spice, the Kia Rio has a form language that also communicates Latin flair, all for a truly global appeal.

The Kia engineers and designers were tasked with the difficult job of improving upon the remarkable international commercial success of the previous Rio generation but they outdid themselves when they created the new Rio range.

1. Driving Dynamics

With its outstanding driving dynamics and exceptional fuel economy, the Kia Rio hits all the right small car notes. Yet it comes packed with big car features and a stunning design that sets it apart from every other car in its class. You are bound to stand out from the crowd in the Kia Rio.

2. Standout Design – Exterior

If we had to pick one reason why we’re drawn to the Kia Rio, compared to other affordable small cars, it is the snappy, aggressive front-end styling on the outside. The new Rio has a coupe-like roofline and corporate grille, which is integrated beautifully with the front lamps to create a new twist on the Kia family look. The car is packed with muscular tail flanks which express a sense of urgency, command and movement. It also has projection headlights, fog lights and LED taillights to enhance both visibility and styling dynamics.

3. Ideal Comfort and Convenience – Interior

To complement the striking exterior, the interior design has been transformed and seems even better, with a clean and sophisticated theme. The comforts and conveniences one would expect in a larger car are standard features in the Kia Rio. You will find things like power windows, body coloured door handles and side mirrors, illuminated vanity mirrors (which is always a plus for women). The Kia Rio comes  with an accentuating bigger cabin space. Like the exterior, the interior cleverly combines chic modernity with rationality and finishes that reflect genuine and timeless quality.

4. The Pleasure of Safety

One of the greatest pleasures about buying a Kia Rio car is peace of mind, thanks to Rio’s full array of standard safety features – including six airbags, four-wheel anti-lock discs brakes and a rigid, reinforced body structure for crash protection.

5. Confident and Spirited Performance

First off, the Kia Rio features power steering for great ride quality and responsive handling. Plus, its lightweight 1.2 Kappa engine (made of high-pressure die-cast aluminium) produces more torque (120Nm of torque at 4 000rpm) and has a power output of 65kW. Offset crankshaft and dual continuously variable valve timing (D-CVVT) boost power output, reduce emissions and cut fuel consumption. Then there's the 1.4 Gamma engine. In this engine, multi-point fuel injection (MPI), die-cast aluminium construction, CVVT, a silent steel timing chain and off-set crankshaft boost power and reduce fuel consumption. Power: 79kW @ 6 300rpm. Torque reading: 135Nm @ 4 200rpm. That’s plenty of power for city and highway driving. It also manages fuel with precision, making Rio one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the road.

With all these features and pleasures (and based on the analysis of published reviews, test drives as well as safety and reliability data), it is no wonder  that the 2014 Kia Rio is becoming an increasingly favourite option for drivers. This is forward-thinking in motion for Kia.
